SANDSTONE DŁUGOPOLE

Sandstone “Długopole” is a very specific material. It differs significantly from other Polish sandstones. In purely measured terms, its technical parameters are much better. High abrasion resistance, low absorption, high compressive strength are parameters that allow the use of sandstone “Długopole” almost without limitation. The unique feature of our sandstone is that it can be polished to such a level that it is difficult to distinguish it from marble or travertine. Thanks to the possibility of receiving polished elements, “Dlugopole” suits well in interiors, allowing easy maintenance of cleanliness. Basic features of Długopole yellow sandstone
  • light yellow color,
  • it yields to polishing,
  • fine-grained structure,
  • silica binder.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SURFACE FINISHES OF DŁUGOPOLE SANDSTONE SLABS?

Dlugopole sandstone slabs are treated to give them the right look. The most common, classic surfaces are:

  • Polished sandstone – the surface is smooth, slippery, with a mirror shine, in addition, it gives the so-called wet stone effect, standard color;
  • Ground sandstone – smooth surface, no slip, matte, standard color;
  • Cut sandstone – the surface left by the cutting machines.

Other surface treatments are also performed, most of which are done exclusively by hand and are usually used to achieve various artistic effects, including:

  • pebbled sandstone – the surface is even, but at the same time very rough, shallow holes are made on the surface of the sandstone, standard color;
  • fluted sandstone – grooved surface, grooves can be seen on the surface of the sandstone, standard color.

WHAT ARE THE STANDARD DIMENSIONS OF DŁUGOPOLE SANDSTONE SLABS? IS IT POSSIBLE TO ORDER SLABS IN OTHER DIMENSIONS?

As the owner of a sandstone mine and, at the same time, a manufacturer of Długopole sandstone products, we are able to offer almost any slab format in the desired thickness, importantly – with no minimum order.

We offer slabs in standard ( format or stripes ) or the dimension you specify. To choose:

  1. standard dimensions, all slabs in one selected format, such as 30×30 cm, 30×60 cm, 40×40 cm, 40×80 cm. Valid for thickness: 1.2 cm, 1.5 cm, 2 cm, 3 cm, 4 cm.

– standard slab width: 30 or 40 cm ( choose one );

– standard slab length: 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 cm ( choose one );

  1. standard dimensions, all slabs in one width, different lengths, so-called stripes. Valid for thickness: 1.5 cm, 2 cm, 3 cm, 4 cm.

– standard slab width: 30 or 40 cm ( choose one );

– slab lengths vary;

  1. The dimension specified by the customer – other than in point 1 and 2. you determine their:

WHAT COLOR IS THE DŁUGOPOLE SANDSTONE?

Standard color of Długopole sandstone: light yellow – sandy yellow.

A characteristic feature of Długopole sandstone is the presence of discoloration on its surface, veins of darker color, from darker yellow to brown. It is not a monochromatic material, although such areas, especially on smaller slabs, can occur.

WHAT ARE SLABS AND HOW DO THEY DIFFER FROM TILES?

Slabs are a semi-finished product that is obtained after cutting a block of stone into “slices.” Slabs vary in size, and their edges are irregularly split. We produce slabs of any thickness, starting from 1.5 cm thick. We sell slabs only saw-cut.

Tiles, on the other hand, are a product ready for installation on a facade or floor, among other things. Like slabs, they can be of any thickness, starting from 1.2 cm thick. Unlike slabs, tiles have a specific dimension ( standard or specified by the Purchaser ) and surface finish (saw-cut, ground, polished, flamed, split etc ).

    IS DŁUOPOLE SANDSTONE SUITABLE FOR FLOORS? WHAT SHOULD BE THE THICKNESS OF FLOOR TILES?

    Thanks to its unique properties, including hardness comparable to granite, high abrasion resistance and low absorption, Długopole sandstone can be successfully used for all kinds of floors, terraces – both indoor and outdoor.

    An important issue is to adjust the thickness of the tiles to the type of substrate on which they will be installed. If the prepared substrate is hard, concrete has been poured – then we propose tiles from a thickness of 1.5 cm (also 1.2 cm on request). If the tiles are to be laid on the ballast, then it would be necessary to use tiles with a thickness of 4 cm.

    For interior floors we recommend polished, honed and flamed sandstone. For outdoor floors, terraces, sidewalks, etc., ground and flamed sandstone will be best. You can also use polished sandstone, but you need to be mindful of its slipperiness.

      WHAT ADHESIVES SHOULD BE USED TO BOND DŁUGOPOLE SANDSTONE SLABS?

      Długopole sandstone, unlike most Polish sandstones, is characterized by a low degree of water absorption ( water absorption slightly above 3%). It is a fine-grained and highly compact sandstone. These features exclude the risk of staining, discoloration and efflorescence when bonding the slabs. Therefore, it is not necessary to use adhesive mortars based on white cement.

      On the market today you will find many solutions for bonding sandstone. Adhesive manufacturers offer universal mortars for any or at least most types of stone. They can be purchased easily at most wholesalers and building supply stores. Adhesives for bonding ceramic tiles can also be used successfully. It is important that the adhesive be flexible, and if the tiles are bonded outside, also frost resistant.

      DO WE SEND DŁUGOPOLE SANDSTONE SAMPLES?

      Of course, we send samples of Długopole sandstone.

      Samples, which we send to those interested – are usually two tiles of standard color ( one matte, the other glossy) and one burnt tile ( reddish, rough). Tiles in standard color intentionally differ from each other in shade and intensity of discoloration. They are intended to demonstrate that the order can show both lighter tiles with less discoloration and darker ones more heavily used.

      The samples sent are made of non-impregnated material to show the natural color of sandstone. However, impregnation of sandstone is recommended by us, because it allows easier use of the stone. In a nutshell: impregnated sandstone will get less dirty and will be easier to wash. Most impregnants “pull out” the color of sandstone, the material becomes darker and any discoloration becomes visible on it. This is known as the wet stone effect. To see on samples a similar appearance of impregnated stone, the resulting sample should be moistened with water. Of course, there are also impregnants that do not “pull out” the natural color of sandstone.

      Samples are sent free of charge, by courier service.

        GENERAL CONDITIONS OF SALE AND DELIVERY OF SANDSTONE

        PIASMAR Company stipulates that sandstone “Długopole”, from which the goods are made, is a natural material. Individual sandstone slabs or elements may differ in shade, texture and grain pattern, which may not be reflected in the presented products and samples.

        Any differences of the aforementioned nature are not grounds for complaint. Also, a complaint arising from the structure of the material will not be recognized: micro-cracks, discoloration, overgrowth, local inconsistency of the structure, voids, rust spots, veins and pitting are not signs of defects, but evidence of the authenticity of natural stone. The above-mentioned characteristics are not considered defects and are not used as a reason to reject the material.

        Before purchasing products, the buyer is obliged to familiarize itself with the appearance of sandstone “Długopole” and the provisions of the General Conditions of Sale and Delivery (GTC) and the results of all technical tests.

        What is the minimum order?

        There is no minimum order!

        We will fulfill any order regardless of the quantity or value of the slabs ordered.
